25 & a National Championship

Just wanted to take a minute to wish my Bradley a Happy Birthday. He's 25 today! I think his favorite thing about his birthday weekend was watching his boys win the National Championship! We went to Gainesville and watched the game with Brad's old roomate and several other friends. Friday we went and bought his official birthday present...he's been playing more golf lately, and decided he needed a new driver. I think he finally settled on a Taylor Made Berner. Tonight we had dinner with some friends at the crabshack, and tomorrow we'll conclude his birthday weekend cooking steaks with his family. He says it's been good and I say he's getting old ;) Happy Birthday Bradley! I LOVE you so so much!....and Go Gators!!

Live, Click, & Organize - This is what it all comes down to!

New Year's Resolution - a commitment that an individual makes to a project, or the reforming of a habit, often a lifestyle change.

I absolutely love the idea of making a list of goals for the New Year. I don't however like to name that list "New Year's Resolutions". I mean of course thats what it is, but it's almost depressing that as i'm making my list, everyone in the United States is making the assumption that no one EVER keeps a New Year's Resolution. It's like giving up before you even try. So the top of my list simply states "Goals". I won't bore you with my WHOLE list, but here's the top 3. This way J & P can help keep me accountable ;)

1. Home is where the heart is - Brad & I want to have a home, or to have purchased land for our future home, by the end of the year. My small town-house has been great for us, but we are sooo ready to have a bigger place. We love to have people over, but when we all get together there's usually 10 or 12 of us, and....well let's just say I like my personal space. Mother & Mother-in-Law, read this very carefully....I am in NO way, shape, or form with child, BUT when we do decide to start a family (which may or may NOT be soon) we HAVE to be able to store our children somewhere. The moms get all giddy when we mention children so I had to clearly state that ;) So a homestead is definitely #1 on my list.

2. Take a picture it'll last longer! - I MUST make better use of my Kodak. I am the world's worst about taking pictures (which is a complete shock considering who my mother & sister are). I have a great camera, but I find myself without it constantly. For a while I carried it in my purse. That helped a little, but still i have so many memories etched into the wrinkles of my brain instead of on film. That drives me crazy! Our honeymoon- in the Islands, white sand, crystal blue water, tiki huts, bathing suits, sunshine, each other, and like 8 pictures!!! I'm getting sick right now thinking about it. I hope my mom doesn't read this...she'll be mad as fire ;) Maybe that'll be my first picture for the new year...don't worry i'll post it :)

3. I was born with an enormous need for fashion - I live and breathe fashion. I crave clothes, shoes, jewelry, & the perfect handbag....ok ok 15 perfect handbags....It's clearly not to the point of fashion rehab or anything, and no i'm not careless enough to endanger our bank account ...Therefore I did not see the need to make the goal to quit shopping. The "goal" is simply to organize my closet.....and keep it that way. Brad laughed out loud when I read this to him. I mean, I took over our spare bedroom to house my wardrobe (all accessories included)! He thought it was rediculous which is his typical thought for my brilliance. Girls....if you have a small closet and an empty spare bedroom....MAKE YOUR MOVE NOW!!! Preferably while your significant other is absent. It's the best thing I ever did....it's just a bit of a hot mess right now. It's gonna get better....Enter "New Year's Goal" #3.

So there....I've mapped out small part my journey for 2009. This should be a great adventure. I'm sure you'll get updates occasionally, and if you have any good tips on organization let me know.

Here's to 2009!

Let me give you a visual.....It's New Years Eve....Brad and I are at home waiting for our friends to come over. We decide while we're waiting we're gonna play Guitar Hero. I take my regular position on the drums while he straps on the guitar. We choose our song and break it down! After a concert or two Brad decides he wants to try singing and i'm gonna take a turn as soon as he's finished....no big deal right? WRONG....Brad sings his little tune and passes over the mic. I fail miserably (however take into consideration that he was playing the guitar so he could have been the one to CRASH my performance). He is so delighted with the fact that he out-sang me that he decides he's gonna brag A LOT! ;) So I get all worked up because he's not a very graceful winner & in return he claims that i'm a "sore loser"!! After a few sarcastic comments about Brad and his "golden microphone" I decide we better put the instruments down... I'm gonna get all practiced up while he's out playing golf, and we'll just see who the band leader is then ;) Shortly after our first "band fight" our friends arrived! We ate dinner and brought in the new year standing around a campfire. You all must realize that I know there's a pattern here with us and campfires, but that's just what you do in Live Oak. We were tired by 11:00, which is sad, but we managed to stick it out until 12:01 :) Seriously, I think we were at home and in bed by 12:30! Today we had dinner with Brad's family (where he continued to brag about his singing "skills"). The food was sooo yummy! We had the traditional stuff...Black eyed peas & greens, and in addition, rice and tomatoes & Jiffy cornbread. Later I went to mom and dad's and had some duck & mac n cheese. I finished the day playing the Wii while Bradley watched more football. It was a good day to start off our great year!! I'm currently working on my goals for 2009. I'll have to fill you in on those later....and yes we will try to keep the Guitar Hero drama to a minimum ;)

HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

These are a few of my favorite things....

It's hard to believe that Christmas has come & gone. We finally got our tree up...(January says I should post that story, but I love my husband so i'm gonna keep our Christmas tree war to myself)...and it's time to take it down :( We were extremely busy just like everyone else i'm sure. We went to see my family, Brad's family, Grandparents, friends, and we ate something everywhere we stopped. It was really kinda gross...It's like we aren't even hungry, but hey there's food so lets eat! We had a blast watching everyone's faces light up & hearing their excitement as gifts were opened. We also were ecstatic to open our gifts as well......I sent Santa my wish list very early as usual, but it only had 1 thing on it this year! (I'm sure "Santa" almost had a heart attack).

I REALLY wanted a Wii Fit. Did I mention I love my Santa VERY much? My Christmas wish was granted! I'm well on my way to being champion of hula-hooping!!

Thanks mom & dad ;)

My other Christmas fave was the "Kitson" jacket that my Bradley gave me....(with the help of his mom who is a professional at shopping!) I L-O-V-E it!!! I think Brad was very pleased with his gifts as well. He got some golf "stuff" from my mom and dad, and new golf bag from his parents. We also got Guitar Hero World Tour!! So if you're ever near the Davis home, and you'd like to stop in and hear our band rock out that would be fine. We're pretty awesome ;) January & Patrick have decided to join I think. Jonas apparently loves it...he slept right through our band practice of beautiful tunes the other day. Overall our day of giving and recieving was perfect!

Here's the BEST part :)

We ALL know the TRUE meaning of Christmas...I absolutely love Max Lucado's book titled "One Incredible Moment". It's so real! Here's a snippet from my favorite chapter...

Untethered by time, God sees us all. From the backwoods of Virginia to the business district of London; from the Vikings to the astronauts, from the cave-dwellers to the kings, from the hut builders to the finger-pointers to the rock stackers, he sees us. Vagabond and ragamuffins all, he saw us before we were born.

And he loves what he sees. Flooded by emotion. Overcome by pride, the starmaker turns to us, one by one, and says, "You are my child. I love you dearly. I'm aware that someday you'll turn from me and walk away. But I want you to know, I've already provided a way back."

And to prove it, he did something extraordinary.

Stepping from the throne, he removed his robe of light and wrapped himself in skin: pigmented, human skin. The light of the universe entered a dark, wet womb. He whom angels worship nestled himself in the placenta of a peasant, was birthed into a cold night, and then slept on cow's hay.

Mary didn't know whether to give him milk or give him priase, but she gave him both since he was, as near as she could figure, hungry and holy.

Joseph didn't know whether to call him Junior or Father. But in the end he called him Jesus, since that's what the angel had said and since he didn't have the faintest idea what to name a God he could cradle in his arms....

Don't you think...their heads tilted and their minds wondered, "What in the world are you doing, God?" Or, better phrased, "God, what are you doing in the world?"

"Can anything make me stop loving you?" God asks. "Watch me speak your language, sleep on your earth, and feel your hurts. Behold the maker of sight and sound as he sneezes, coughs and blows his nose. You wonder if I understand how you feel? Look into the dancing eyes of the kid in Nazareth: that's God walking to school. Ponder the toddler at Mary's table; that's God spilling his milk."

"You wonder how long my love will last? Find your answer on a splintered cross, on a craggy hill. That's me you see up there, your maker, your God, nail-stabbed and bleeding. Covered in spit and sin-soaked.

"That's YOUR sin I'm feeling. That's YOUR death I'm dying. That's YOUR resurrection I'm living."

"That's how much I LOVE YOU."

Wedding Weekend

Prince Charming ;)

Katie, Me, & Jess

The Bride & I

I know it's been FOREVER since i've blogged, but believe it or not, we've had internet issues again! So here I am finally to fill you guys in on what's been going on in our neck of the woods. Our good friends were married on December 13th. Fain & Hannah have been together for 7 years this year...we always joke about how long our guys made us wait for marriage...I think they had a competition going. Brad & I were 5 months shy of 7 years & Cole and Jess (our other good friends) were well into 7 years. We finally made it and we're all happily married now! Fain & Hannah had a beautiful ceremony and the reception was SO much fun! The food was delicious and the decor was very chic black and ivory. Hannah is a little stylista so we weren't surprised a bit. We danced all night (even Brad danced) and trust me....my high-heeled feet paid dearly for their dancing skills ;)
Congrats Fain & Hannah we LOVE you guys sooo much!

Caviar & Edward Cullen anyone???

With the exception of 1 or 2 things...this weekend was wonderful! Friday night we had dinner at the Crabshack with our good friends Hunter & Tamra. The food was great and the company was even better. Saturday morning I was off to "Christmas on the Square". There were twice as many vendors this year, but I still resisted the urge to buy, buy, buy! Our Christmas is already done, and we're letting our bank account recover ;) I saw lots of old friends that I haven't seen in a while, and those that I see daily. Brad decided to skip the chaotic crowd....He had a very important football game to prepare for ;) After I finally convinced him that it was OK if I didn't wear my game day shirt to Christmas on the Square......he settled in his usual spot on the couch, and helped the College Game Day guys analyze every play that would happen that day. We watched the game with some friends, and feasted on a huge pot of Low Country Boil and Redneck Caviar (the best chip dip you've EVER tasted). After cheering our Gators on to victory, we stood around the firepit and discussed our plans for the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!!! WOOHOO!!! Then off to bed we went with dreams of Edward Cullen dancing in my head ;) This is where it gets really good!! The girls & myself finally had our date with Twilight! I can't say enough good things about it. Beka & I cried while Chelsea & Jennifer laughed at us...It was great...I loved the book, I loved the movie, and I am so diggin Edward! We finished our night with Texas Roadhouse, Target, and Books-a-Million. It couldn't have been better!....Jonas tagged along with January, of course, and i'm sure he felt the same way about our girls night ;) Just kidding Patrick...you can claim those nights with him soon.....

Thanksgiving Weekend

I was trying not to post until January emailed me our Thanksgiving pictures, but I think little Jonas is preventing that from happening. I'll just have to post our pictures later. Thanksgiving was perfect! It was our first Thanksgiving being married, and I had to send Brad to the grocery store first thing that morning because I forgot something. Hopefully that's not gonna become a tradition! We had tons of delicious food, and spent time with our families. Brad stayed busy the rest of the weekend watching football (Go Gators!!)! I have been in the world of Edward and Bella...all else was forgotten. I suppose i'm officially a "Twilight" nerd. I am now waiting on the rest of the girls to read it so we can go see the movie!!.....however I should warn them that if they don't HURRY i'm going alone! Brad was finally able to talk me into putting the book down a time or two so we could go hang out with our friends. We all sat around a fire, laughed at stories, and talked about the good times we've had this year. Thank God for good friends :) ......So overall our long weekend was busy, but definitely the best Thanksgiving we've had so far as a married couple ;) I'm sure next year will be even better!
